Modern split systems use inverter compressors that vary their speed continuously instead of switching hard on and off. That holds a steadier temperature, runs more quietly and cuts running costs compared with older fixed-speed units.
Efficiency is shown on the energy rating label and as COP for heating and EER for cooling. The higher the number, the more heating or cooling you get for each unit of electricity. A good reverse cycle unit can deliver around three to five units of heat for every unit of power it draws, which makes it far cheaper to run than resistive electric heating and, in most cases, cheaper than gas. Running fully electric also lets you pair the system with rooftop solar to lower costs further.
VEU Rebates on Split Systems
Because an efficient reverse cycle split system is fully electric, it can be eligible under the Victorian Government's Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, particularly when it replaces older, less efficient heating. Eligibility depends on the model's efficiency rating and the install meeting program rules.

How the VEU Discount Works
An approved high-efficiency system generates energy-saving certificates based on the emissions it avoids over its lifetime. Your accredited installer converts those certificates into a discount that comes straight off your install price on the day.
Eligibility generally applies to established Victorian homes, there is no income or means test, and a minimum customer contribution applies. The exact rebate value shifts with certificate pricing and program settings, so we confirm your current eligibility and figure as part of your free quote rather than quoting a number blind.
Split System vs Ducted: Which Is Right for You?
Both are reverse cycle and both heat and cool efficiently, so the choice comes down to how much of the home you want to condition and your budget.
Choose a split system when you want to condition one or a few rooms, keep upfront cost down, retrofit an existing home or apartment, or have room-by-room control. It is the fastest, least disruptive option.
Choose a reverse cycle ducted system when you want even, whole-home comfort with a concealed look and have the roof or subfloor space for ductwork. Ducted costs more and takes longer to install but conditions the entire home from one system. If you are not sure which suits your home, we will talk you through both at your free quote.

3. Tidy installation: our licensed, ARCtick-certified installers mount the indoor head and outdoor unit, run and insulate the pipework and make the electrical connection, usually within a few hours to half a day for a single head. We protect your home and clean up as we go.
4. Commissioning & handover: we test the system in both heating and cooling, check the airflow and show you how to run the unit and app before we leave.
